Victim Identified in Deadly Vehicle-Pedestrian Crash Near Lexington

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident that occurred Monday evening, August 18, 2025, approximately three miles east of Lexington on Highway 30 near Road 436.

Authorities say 19-year-old Cristofer Guzman of Lexington was traveling eastbound in his Jeep when he struck a 19-year-old woman walking in the driving lane. Deputies and first responders immediately began life-saving efforts at the scene, including CPR. Priority Medical and the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department also responded.

The victim, identified as Angelina Navarrete-Chavez of rural Lexington, was transported to Lexington Regional Health Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to the Navarrete-Chavez family. The Nebraska State Patrol assisted in the investigation, which remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
